A feed came through last night that mentioned the existence of an International Video Game Hall of Fame, so naturally my interest spiked. After visiting their site and reading about the upcoming events in the first week of August, I realized this mecca of video gaming is located.. get ready for it.. here in Iowa!
Wait, Iowa? Since when was Iowa considered the video game capital of the world??
Apparently Twin Galaxies, the first official arcade leader board tracking organization, was based in Ottumwa, IA. The title of video game mecca seems somewhat self-granted, but the gaming community has slowly begun to embrace the designation.
Check out their site and the events planned for August. It looks like quite the production, so it may be worth a visit. I’ll be out of town that weekend but would still like to make a trip down to see the museum some day!
