The last 48 hours have kicked my ass. I was dreading writing the long drawn out post about our lovely little water related events this week, but thankfully Jillian fired up a post earlier today. Check it out. Flooding sucks.

I have some FlipVid footage of the damage but I’m too tired to cut/render/upload tonight. Perhaps tomorrow night?

Another weekend of work ahead of me, so be prepared for some cranky posts. Nah I kid. I have a few news tidbits to chew through before I spew them out all over this page, so stay tuned.

Mother Nature has it out for us Iowans this winter. After finally recovering from the mass snow dumpage over the last few weeks we get rocked with an ice storm, cutting power and internet service for thousands, some for hours at a time. While I’m all for giving some leeway to companies and the service they provide during inclement weather, Mediacom was down for almost 10 hours yesterday for everyone in central Iowa. Even before the storm really hit we were seeing horrible performance and total outages starting Monday night.

This reminded me that typically Mediacom’s DNS servers can be compared to flaming piles of dog crap. Instead, set your router/PC to use a free DNS service like OpenDNS or Google’s DNS servers.

Yeah that’s exactly what we need here in Iowa, more snow and shitty roads. It seems Mother Nature and her never ending quest to jack with my schedule is looking to dump more snow on us right in the middle of our holiday travel plans. Seriously, who pissed in her Cheerios?!

Since the snow is likely to keep us indoors we’ll be playing tons of games to pass the time. What are your favorite games to play during the holidays?

Seriously?! Its the middle of October people, there is no need for this. If it really does snow on Saturday I’ll probably go punch a woodland creature in the face.

Well, not really its 23 right now (better than it could be) but snow and ice moved in overnight and coated everything. Travel not advised, and I took that advice today.

On an unrelated yet unfortunate note, EQ is patching until Noon today. Geah…
