I’ve been watching my share of the Winter Olympics the past few days including last night’s Men’s Hockey win over the heavily favored Canadian team. A few different Red Wings had a great game, but it was awesome to see so much talent on the ice at one time. I just hope they keep that fire going when the regular NHL season starts back up on March 1st. They’ll need it!

Since my second machine finally bit the dust after 7 years of gimping it along, I ordered up some new parts that will make up my new primary machine. Its going to be a beast! I’ll post some pics of the build process and get some performance numbers up as well.

It was announced today that Yahoo and Microsoft will be inking a deal to merge their collective Search efforts in a futile attempt to take on Google, in what appears to be a “join us or die” move by Microsoft in their never ending quest to not suck as much.

Unfortunately, Yahoo is going to take it in the pants on this one. Yes they gain the seemingly unlimited resources available through Microsoft, however investors are already expressing their concerns. Yahoo’s stock price hemorrhaged nearly 11% by midday trading and the trend is expected to continue through tomorrow’s official business announcement.

When will Microsoft learn that simply buying up the competition is a shitty way to gain power in the market? With the realm of Open Source solutions only getting stronger by the week I have to wonder when Corporations (the fools who are truly keeping Microsoft in business, IMO) will start to see the light?
