Oooh someone updated their site look and even made a blog post!
I apologize for my recent absence from blogging, but I’ve had a busy past few days!
Enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day weekend with my wife, that started on Thursday night with a sushi making class given at Wooden Spoons in Ankeny. Wonderful class that deviated from the traditional sushi making “ceremony” and instead went with a simplified approach. I prefer the traditional way of cooking the rice though, as it gives the rice a more sticky feeling and makes the rolling much easier.
I also managed to get hooked on yet another MMORPG, only this time its a space shooter instead of a traditional RPG. Vendetta Online has a client for Windoze, Mac and… LINUX! If you have an NVidia graphics card you can boost the graphics in-game to impressive levels proving that gaming on the penguin is far from crap! They have a free trial period if you want to give it a shot.
I’m on-call this week so my posts may be few and far between, but I’ll probably get Yahtzee’s newest video posted along with Thursday’s FOSS feature (not sure what I’ll cover yet.. suggestions?)
The first day of our Anniversary Weekend went a little something like this:
We started the morning with Jillian’s first visit to the Des Moines Farmer’s Market downtown. A slight drizzle accompanied us as we gandered at the various vendors and the occasional Jesus freak (he was louder than the carribean drum line…)
We passed an Office Max on the way to lunch and decided to stop on and perhaps replace my ancient, somewhat dangerous desk chair. Sure enough we both found a chair we liked and snagged them.
Lunch was a visit to Wok In Motion in West Glen. Very good sushi joint I must say! A Rainbow roll, miso, and a sweet salmon/snapper/tuna shashimi sampler.
We tooled around Jordan Creek while awaiting the start of Peter Jackson’s “District 9″. While tooling I finally found a new winter coat! Movie was decent but feel free to wait until it hits DVD.
Tonight we had an “us” night with martinis, a few games, and caught up on the DVR recordings. Very nice and relaxing.
I’ve decided to add some more options to how you view my pics on this site. When you hover over the Pictures link (up top, duh) you now see a direct link list of the various galleries I have setup. You can now directly access a gallery versus wading through all of my pics as previously configured. You can still click on the Pictures link to see the “old view” if you wish, but I plan to utilize the new format to time/date stamp my newest uploads.
That being said, check out the 061409 uploads for pics of our new patio furniture! We finally decided to make the desk useful once and for all. We spend Sunday on the hammock, under the umbrella, sipping M-M’s and enjoying each others company.
After some sun, J decided to deep clean the house while I hit up Menards for a few odds and ends.
Side note: salmon flavored cream cheese isn’t as bad as it sounds. Honestly.
