Carterpants

The last weekend was rather productive while relaxing also. The bitter cold and snow dump from mid week kept things limited but I did manage to finish up our Christmas shopping. Jillian wrapped up the remaining gifts on Saturday (I have zero wrapping talent..) so we’re all set for the festivities.

Friday we had another 4 player game of OOTS, with April winning as Haley. Jillian was a close second and took down Xyklon while Ulmer and I pretty much sucked it up. Neither of us could buy a die roll to save our lives..

Yesterday Jillian and I hit up Bass Pro Shop for some co-worker’s gifts and stopped in to eat at Uncle Buck’s. Let me tell you, I have no idea why people hype that place up. The food was mediocre, the service sucked, and the meals were overpriced for what you got. It took them nearly 20 minutes to make Jillian’s cosmo, my burger was ordered medium but showed up more than well done, and I think they gave us literally 10 fries. Don’t bother with Uncle Buck’s.

Going to be a busy week.. my project is finally going live tonight and I’m on-call to boot. I’m glad this project is finally coming to a close, I’ve been working on this for a few months and I’m ready for my next project: implementing Subversion and ditching ClearCase!

Looking forward to Carter Xmas at Rob’s this weekend. Always a good time with the gift game We’re bringing two gifts that I wouldn’t mind coming home with but can’t ruin the surprise. All I can say is you can rock out while on the rocket if you get both gifts. Mwahaha!

O’hay, I also made significant headway in my Recipe Master app. Its a PHP site that stores, searches, and displays recipe entries. Powered by LAMP, doing what LAMP does best, and for free. Church, bish.

In that album you probably saw this and asked yourself, “What the hell is all that?”

That my friends is two huge beef rump roasts that have been marinating in the fridge with two jars of my homemade BBQ sauce. I’m going to smoke this bad boys all day, low and slow that’s the tempo baby. Since there’s not much to do while smokin’, I’ll probably post boring and meaningless updates as I do so. Although I did pick up a new game this weekend… hmm. Decisions decisions.

This weekend was busy, only in the regards of we played hard

Saturday we finally got a game of OOTS in at Rob’s place. Before we started Rob took Ulmer and I through his mountain bike trail carved out of the woodlands behind his house. Now, I’ve not rode a bike in literally 10 years so I was taking personal bets on what bone I would break. We made it back alive but slightly winded.

We implemented some rules aimed at reducing the game time, however that didn’t seem to help much. Another 7 hour game with 6 players! There was more PVP this game (due to yours truly) and the end result was closer than anticipated, but I believe only 9 points separated 1st from last.

Sunday we went to Dale’s to celebrate Margy’s birthday, a la pork chops and cold ones. I brought over my homemade BBQ sauce for its first test. The Sweet but Sassy was a hit, but the Death sauce wasn’t quite worthy of the name “Death”. Looks like its back to the drawing board for that one, but it was still very tasty.

Sounds like J and I will be hitting the midnight premier of Harry Pooooter! I’ll let you know how it is!

Rob and April joined the OOTS faithful on Saturday.

We saw two characters not yet played before, Roy and Durkon. Despite the unfamiliarity, Ulmer took Roy through the 3-level grind fest and bent Xyklon over his knee (bad baby bad baby). Game time was just over 5 hours that included a rules explanation for the newbies.
